Ingredients
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • ½ pound unsalted butter
  • 1¾ cups white sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose white flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 - 2 cups walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 9 x 12 inch pan.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter in a small saucepan over lowest possible heat. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
  3. When the chocolate mixture is cool, combine the sugar, eggs and vanilla in a medium size mixing bowl.
  4. Whisk together until slightly frothy.
  5. Add cooled chocolate mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Add flour and salt and mix until well combined.
  7. Add nuts if desired.
  8. Bake for about 25 - 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
